PUPPY MILL PROTEST IN STAMFORD: Sept. 30, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Join us in protesting against puppy mills and encouraging pet shops to employ the more humane business model used by industry leaders PetSmart and Petco. They don’t sell puppies, but instead partner with local shelters and rescues. CT data show that pet stores that sell puppies have a history of dealing with USDA breeders with very poor animal welfare standards. The mothers of these puppies are in cages their whole lives. They get abscessed feet from the wire floors, little to no protection from summer heat or frigid winters, and no regular veterinary care, even when they’re ill. They’re bred over and over again until they’re spent. A peaceful protest will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Signs will be available or feel free to make your own. Address is 1086 Long Ridge Road close to The Merritt Parkway. Bring a friend. Let’s make our voices heard!
